Aphrodite and Ares: A Selfish Love Story

When one thinks of love stories it can be really easy to think of happy endings and sweet moments but not even the ancient stories when Gods and Goddesses were thought to walk amongst everyone were they wrapped so neatly in a bow. They were messy and big and did selfish things for love. None more so than the Greek Goddess of Love herself.... Once upon a time there was a Goddess. She was born of the sea and blood, said to be the most beautiful, the most desired and lovely of all the Goddesses. She was Aphrodite. She was said to be so beautiful that the other Goddesses grew jealous, angry and so the Queen of the Greek Gods Hera decided to force Aphrodite to marry her son Hephaestus the God of Blacksmiths, a God able to create beautiful things yet known to be the ugliest of them all and crippled with a limp. The marriage was not happy, childless with a husband who she felt did not deserve her she looked else where and her eyes quickly found Ares, the God of War. Tall, handsome, st...

Everyday Love Stories: Long Distance Love

Image
Long distance relationships can be so hard. While phones and the internet have made contact and talking easier, it's not the same as being able to see the person your heart wants, to be able to touch and hug and kiss. But for those that are willing to be patient and put into the effort, it is worth the wait. This beautiful story is about such a relationship, written by the gorgeous Vicki.... So I've been with my fiancĂ©, David, for just over ten years. It was like a weird coincidence because simply - we met online. I had just had my heart broken by the ending of a 2 1/2 year relationship and me and my best friend were online on msn messenger (back on the day) when we started chatting to this guy she knew online. Anyway, we were all chatting on webcam and i decided it would be fun to swap numbers with this guy called David so we could carry on text messaging and chatting.  It was my summer holidays, I was 17 and I was bored so I just went for it. Carry on a few m...

Everyday Love Stories: Girl meets Boy...

Like a snowflake each persons love story (or stories) are different. No one has the same one, it's one of the real beauties of listening to how people met, how they courted and fell in love. This is what this section is for. I want people to tell their stories. The good, the bad, the wonderful and even the broken hearted ones. It's up to you what you want to tell if you want to share.  But this is mine, a classic girl meets boy tale. I had one boyfriend before I met my now husband, one who had taken my heart and my trust and not just stepped on it but smashed it and ripped it to shreds along with any confidence I had about myself.  Then, much to my embarrassment, jumped on an online dating site on the advice of an aunt. It took a few weeks but I met a man. First a click to like, then he sent the questions. He went through every set of hurdles that this dating thing did. You know the Q and A's of would you rather or what would you do if.... I loved it. It was...

Nine Things To Keep Love Alive

Image
Hey Lovelies, Falling in love can feel so easy, the Honeymoon period is such a dream and then comes the part after. The part where roots are put down and you get down to the harder part of the relationship, the time when decisions are made, where you may move into together, decide to get married or start a family or travel but it if generally the part where you start to see more of who a person is and how they decide or do things in everyday life.  It's also the part where you can start to fall into a rut as you find your rhythm as a couple and start to fit your everyday lives together. Which is such a fun time in itself but can become monotonous as you fall into a groove or stop trying as much as you used to and sometimes love can fade as each of you don't do those little things to show that you're thinking of them or do anything special anymore. Which can lead the relationship to getting boring or upsetting as neither of you feel appreciated and loved and it s...

A Goddess Called Love

Image
Touch by Natalia Jaster is about Love. A goddess born of the stars, first of her kind amongst the deities who don't fully understand her, who think she should act in certain ways. But she is who she is. She watches and pushes and causes love stories to happen until of course she meets a boy, one who should not see her and her love story begins.  Anger, Wonder, Envy and Sorrow are her fellow deities, all archers like Love who move humans around and shoots arrows at them according to the fates design, but from the readers point of view the are also emotions that are tightly woven with love. One is not always happy in love, it can create a so many other emotions, cause hate, anger and envy. Cause the deepest sadness or make it feel like your in a bewildered state of wonderment.  It's not simple in this book. The two of them walk around in circles and get angry and fight. It's messy and wonderful and fun and real. Despite it being about a goddess and human boy....

Love

Love.  As humans we fight for it, we live for it, we die for it.  Some fall in to it as many times as they can, others are terrified of it and then there are the ones who find it once and never let it go.  It can be beautiful, terrifying, hate inducing or euphoric. It can be simple, it can be kind or it can be wild and mean.  Some is returned, others refuse it.  It can make you sane or drive mad.  It can change your entire life, or merely become apart of it.  It can make a quiet person loud and stun others into silence Every single person experiences it differently and it can be found in every tiny corner.  But we all seem to look for it, some successful others not.  This blog is for it all. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The joyful and the sad. The wonder and the horror. But all for love.
